i cant remember when i first saw it, but a few years ago, i saw a random yt vid that was recommended to me about a sonic statue in some mountains in japan. At the time, i had no idea that sonic statues were even a thing; it never crossed my mind - so i was very interested in learning the backstory of this! long ago during the peak of sonics popularity in the 90s, there were a handful of sega themed amusement parks called sega world, and each of them had their own separate huge statues. Unfortunately none of these parks lasted very long, and they eventually shut down and got demolished shortly after being closed. Sometime before they were demolished, each park auctioned off some of their statues to people and sold them off. This particular statue ended up in some mountains, and was used as a landmark for a couple years. If youd like, you can see the rest of the story about it in this playlist here!
